A gaming console is only as good as its best games. Here are my personal game highlights for the PlayStation 4. It can't be a coincidence that two of them have a female lead.
1. Beyond: Two Souls
Beyond: Two Souls impresses with its sophisticated interactive storytelling. This means that you influence the course of the story through your own decisions. And this story is like an exciting movie. You accompany the girl Jodie (played by Allen Page), who is in contact with a supernatural force named Aiden, on a longer stage of her life from childhood to adulthood - always with the background of solving the mystery of Aiden.
Along the way, you'll go through various action scenes of different genres, from westerns to horror movies. This provides for variety, but sometimes also takes on somewhat bizarre proportions. The action elements aren't always easy to handle, especially in terms of camera movement, but it's worth the effort.
The game lives from its exciting story and the focus on interactive storytelling. Personally, I would like to see more games with such a high proportion of interactive storytelling.

2. Horizon: Zero Dawn
Horizon: Zero Dawn is characterized by a beautiful game world, fantastic graphics and a good story. You are in a post-apocalyptic world where people live together as tribes and have to stand up to machines. As the outcast Aloy, you try to solve the mystery of your origins and fight the machines with bow and arrow. The alternation of interactive storytelling and - not infrequently strategic - battle scenes makes the adventure varied and exciting.
For the less experienced players: It takes some practice until you understand the tricks and tricks and acquire the necessary fine motor skills for archery. Thus, the difficulty level of the game is a bit higher and you should plan a bit more time accordingly.

3. Journey
Journey is a particularly lovingly designed game with an extraordinary soundscape. As a hooded character, you travel through various landscapes - from the desert to a snowy landscape - to reach a mountain peak.
What makes this game so unique is that it is wonderfully unagitated and you hardly experience any frustration, instead letting yourself be carried through the game like a leaf in the wind and hardly noticing that hours have already passed. The interface is refreshingly minimalistic, so the focus is entirely on the landscape in front of you. The controls are also wonderfully simple.
A special highlight is that if you have an Internet connection, you can meet another player who is in the same level. Communication among each other is only done through movement and shouts. You only learn the names of your random companions during the end credits.
PlayStation is offering the game at the moment for free in the PS Store (until 6 May 2020): https://store.playstation.com/de-de/product/EP9000-CUSA00470_00-JOURNEYPS4061115
Viel Spaß beim Spielen!
